On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the EMC Foundation, in collaboration with the Scout Association of Guyana (SAG), hosted an exciting Eco-Games Activity at the SAG Base on Woolford Avenue, Georgetown. The event brought together over 150 scout members and leaders for a morning of fun, learning, and teamwork through a series of engaging indoor and outdoor eco-themed games.
Designed to promote environmental awareness, creativity, and collaboration, the Eco-Games encouraged participants to think critically about biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability while working together to protect Planet Earth. Through this interactive format, scouts experienced environmental concepts in a fun and memorable way, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and stewardship in addressing environmental challenges.
In preparation for the event, EMC Foundation staff developed a range of educational and recreational activities aimed at fostering awareness and appreciation for nature. Participants took part in group-based games highlighting topics such as waste management, resource conservation, and ecosystem balance. These activities not only promoted learning but also encouraged communication, problem-solving, and leadership among the scouts.
Some of the featured activities included Eco-Pictionary, Eco-Charades, Wildlife Wonders: Snake and Ladder, Eco-Skipping, Predator vs Prey Dash, LCDS 2030 Bingo, Wildlife Balance Challenge, Eco-Sack Race, Eco-Three-Legged Race, Pin the Bird to the Tree, Eco-Volleyball, and Planet Earth Says. Each game offered a fun and engaging way to learn about environmental conservation and Guyana’s rich biodiversity that make up its ecosystems. Several activities also introduced scouts to the “Giants of Guyana”, helping them understand why these species are so vital to protect.
To reward their enthusiastic participation, scout members received exciting prizes such as hand-crafted balata wildlife figurines, copies of the Nature Hunt: Exploring Guyana word search book, the Guyana Secondary School Environmental Quiz Handbook, as well as EMC Foundation keyrings and stickers.
The activity was a tremendous success, with many scouts expressing their enjoyment and eagerness to participate in future Eco-Games. Several EMC Foundation volunteers also played an active role in facilitating the day’s activities, while others from the public expressed interest in joining the Foundation’s volunteer network.
The EMC Foundation is proud to have supported this activity, which aligns with its core mission of promoting environmental education, awareness, and E-STEM capacity building. This event also reflects the impact of the ongoing implementation of activities under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the EMC Foundation and the Scout Association of Guyana, fostering positive change, environmental stewardship, and a deeper appreciation for nature among Guyana’s youth.
