On July 31, 2026, the EMC Foundation proudly presented its signature EMC Foundation Information Tree to British High Commission in Guyana, during the fifth edition of Conservation Conversations, held at the British High Commission Residence in Georgetown. Present for the handing over were His Excellency Mr Joseph Fisher, British High Commissioner to Guyana, Rt Hon David Lammy, Member of Parliament for Tottenham and Co-Founder of Sophia Point and Mr Alistair Routledge, President of ExxonMobil Guyana.
The EMC Foundation Information Tree is an interactive educational display featuring a curated collection of the Foundation’s publications, including locally authored books, scientific resources, and educational materials focused on Guyana’s biodiversity, ecosystems, wildlife, and conservation efforts. The tree serves as a lasting resource designed to inspire curiosity, encourage learning, and connect persons with stories of Guyana’s remarkable environment.
The presentation marked a significant milestone in the Foundation’s continued efforts to promote environmental education, celebrate Guyana’s conservation efforts, and strengthen partnerships that support biodiversity conservation, research, and public awareness. The initiative also represents the Foundation’s vision of making environmental knowledge more accessible.
During the handover, Ms. Sarah Singh, Program Coordinator of the EMC Foundation, presented the Information Tree to His Excellency Joseph Fisher as a symbol of appreciation and the continued growth of this valued partnership. “On behalf of Mr Shyam Nokta and the EMC Foundation, I extend sincere appreciation to High Commissioners Jane Miller and Joseph Fisher, as well as the Government of the United Kingdom, for believing in our work and supporting our vision,” she noted.
Through initiatives such as the Information Tree, the EMC Foundation remains committed to connecting people with nature, expanding environmental literacy, and building a future where Guyana’s extraordinary biodiversity is understood, valued, and protected for generations to come.
The EMC Foundation was established by Mr. Shyam Nokta, winner of the 2022 Anthony N Sabga Award for Entrepreneurship. The Foundation works to support environmental awareness and education in Guyana by promoting activities which encourage a greater understanding of the environment, creating a network to connect like-minded persons, and providing opportunities to experience Guyana’s rich natural environment.
